About the Granting Department

Due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances — Research Projects have not been funded since the 2007 season — and no Research Grants will be offered for the 2013 season. FAMSI Staff and Directors appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank-you.

The purpose of the Foundation Research Grants is to support scholarly works with the potential for significant contributions to the understanding of ancient Mesoamerican cultures and continuities thereof among the indigenous cultures in modern Mesoamerica (México, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador). The Foundation supports projects in the disciplines of archaeology, art history, epigraphy, linguistics, ethnohistory, ethnography, and sociology. The Foundation encourages interdisciplinary projects, especially those that combine disciplines in novel and potentially productive ways.
