Glyph T504 - AKB'AL

AKB'AL (Akb'al) (T504) > n. day sign; third day of the Maya Tzolk'in calendar

<> (JM) Represents the quality of "darkness"; probably depicts the upper markings and belly-scales of a snake within a cartouche.

(CH) > AK'AB' (ak'ab') ak'-ab' ~ n. "night", day sign, third day of the Tzolkin calendar. The reading ak'b'al is the 16th century value that was attributed to this logogram by the Yukatek Maya and is not the value of the sign during the Classic period. <> Represents a side view of a serpent's body, showing the ventral scales at the bottom and the dorsal markings at the top.
