Comments:  Caso and Bernal (1952: 285) say about this urn: "We do not have any urns [of this type] in Monte Albán dating from the period IIIA; but in Atzompa, in well 2R No. 1, a beautiful figurine of this goddess was found, accompanied by two engraved glasses that undoubtedly correspond to the period IIIA".

Glyphs:  Two glyphs B (jaguar) in the headdress, crowned with glyph J (corn). On both sides of the headdress, there are S-shaped glyphs that could represent clouds. In the middle of the headdress, glyph C and the glyph for corn field as pectoral.

Chronology:  Pitao 350 - 500 AD   Click to view Chronology Comments:  Figure of an old man holding a drum under his right arm. A maxilla hangs from his left ear and there was probably another one on the right side. The figure is carrying a vessel on his back with a leather harness known as "mecapal". The figure's base has an embossed engraving with the design of alligator's eyes. Drawing based on a photo from Philippa Shaplin. Glyphs:  In the frame of the pedestal there is a series of the gllyph V. Compare this piece with the base of MNA 6-486.

Chronology:  Pitao 350 - 500 AD   Click to view Chronology Reference:  not published Comments:  Photograph in AMNH shows this object in the Bellon collection. This piece has a great deal of damage to the headdress. It is very similar to ROM 1948, and wears the same bucal mask corresponding to the glyph V (alligator). Glyphs:  The glyph for "corn field" in the pectoral.
