No specific statements of parentage survive from this period in Palenque's history. However, Akul Mo' Nab' I was probably the younger brother of B'utz'aj Sak Chik (the two were born less than six years apart) and the son of "Casper II". He was also probably the father of his successor K'an Joy Chitam I (who was born when Akul Mo' Nab' I was almost 35 years old). We are also told in the Tablet of the Cross (T8-T9) that Akul Mo' Nab' I was the grandfather of Akul Mo' Nab' II. Given the birth dates of the various rulers from this time, we can fairly securely reconstruct the following genealogy for these early Palenque kings. |
