Site:  Nasca Clados Number:  57 Culture:  Nasca Description:  effigy vase (detail), C-13447 M.N.A.A.H.-Lima. Chronological Era:  Early Intermediate Period (EIP), Nasca 5. Iconographic Features:  Anthropomorphic Mythical Being with Jagged Tail, possibly a variety of the Masked Mythical Being. It holds a club and trophy head (right hand), and a carrying cord that comes out of the being’s mouth. The cord is depicted as the spotted body of a serpent ending in four serpents.

Iconographic Features:  Head of the Seated Anthropomorphic Mythical Being depicted with extended tongue in form of a jagged serpent (identical to Tello 1959, no. 86). It holds an emaciated human figure with trophy heads, probably a warrior (left).

Site:  Nasca Clados Number:  67 Culture:  Nasca Description:  effigy vase, drawing after Schlesier 1959, Abb. 215. Chronological Era:  Early Intermediate Period (EIP), Nasca 7. Iconographic Features:  Seated Anthropomorphic Being with Face Joints touching its nose and head. Elbows and knees replaced by human faces (face joints). Plant motif covers the front of the body. Nude woman (yellow) sits on the head. Side and back of the body show the representations of a dead woman (?), a nude man, and men carrying a trumpet. A rattle, a drum, carrying cords, plants and fishes, probably offerings, are dispersed between the figures.

Iconographic Features:  Anthropomorphic Being with Face Joints surrounded by panpipes which probably can be interpreted as offerings. Plant motif covers the front of the body. Drum or (chicha-)vessel placed between the legs. Two men are carrying a trumpet that is put into the ear of the main figure. Trumpet might function as resonance tool.
