Iconographic Features:  One of the most outstanding representations of the Masked Mythical Being (Anthropomorphic Mythical Being) showing a wide range of colours. It is depicted with feline head, snake body (signifer), and human torso with legs. The snake body is spiked along its border, with trophy heads between its projections. End of the signifer in the shape of a human/feline head (with headband). The Masked Mythical Being holds a bloody club and a trophy head. Tunic shows “eye motif”. One of a pair of cup bowls.

Iconographic Features:  Masked Mythical Being (Anthropomorphic Mythical Being) holding a forehead ornament and pepino fruits. It is depicted with feline head, snake body (signifer), and human torso with legs. Snake body with trophy heads attached to its border. Trophy heads with sprouting pepino fruits emanating from the mouth. Extended tongue in the shape of a snake body that terminates in a feline head. End of the signifer in the shape of a feline head. Headdress of the Masked Mythical Being shows sprouting pepino fruits.

Site:  Nasca Clados Number:  189 Culture:  Nasca Description:  large chicha (?) ritual vessel, private collection, redrawn after Zarate, Morales 1983, colored by Clados after Culturas precolombinas: Nazca, Lima 1986. Chronological Era:  Early Intermediate Period (EIP), Nasca 2/3 Phase. Iconographic Features:  complex iconographic scene depicting a mythical combat between supernatural beings and humans. A net surrounded by several supernatural beings (including BMB-4, Feline Hawk, Masked Mythical Being, Anthropomorphic Being with Jagged Tail) is depicted in the centre of the painting. The Masked Mythical Being (right of centre) is grasping the hair of a warrior (with two spears in his hand). Feline Man holding a fan appears at the upper right. To his right appears a human almost 'skeletonized', to his left a trophy head hanging on a carrying cord. To express the third dimension the supernatural beings are organized on three ground lines.
